John Bramante, M.D.

Dr. Bramante joined CPIM in 1993 after completing his internal medicine training and chief residency at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. Dr. Bramante is a board certified internist and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.  He enjoys the broad practice of internal medicine, the care of patients with complex illness and has special interests in gastrointestinal endoscopy and echocardiography.

Outside of work he is dedicated to his family life including wife Katie and three daughters. He coaches youth soccer and formerly coached the boys varsity soccer team at Soldotna High School. He and Katie are accomplished mushers and continue to maintain an active sled dog team.

William J. Kelley, M.D.

One of the founders of Central Peninsula Internal Medicine, Dr. Kelley came to the Kenai Peninsula in 1991. He is a graduate of the Tufts University School of Medicine, and completed his internship in internal medicine at San Francisco General Hospital. Dr. Kelley completed his residency at University of California, San Francisco, followed by a year as chief resident at that institution. Dr. Kelley practiced in Redmond, Oregon and American Samoa before coming to Alaska.

Dr. Kelley enjoys the broad reaches of internal medicine and has particular interests in cancer care and gastrointestinal endoscopy. He believes that there is nowhere better to live than the state of Alaska, and considers it a privilege to be able to practice medicine in a community that he loves. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, flying his super cub, and introducing his grandchildren to the wonders of the state.

Kristin Mitchell, M.D.

Dr. Mitchell fell in love with Alaska while earning her medical degree at the University of California San Francisco. She completed her residency in Primary Care Internal Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle. In addition to her practice at CPIM since 1998, Dr. Mitchell teaches medical students and is on the admissions committee for the University of Washington School of Medicine.

She is board certified in internal medicine, and is a Fellow of American College of Physicians for which she serves on national committees. In 2013, she earned additional board certification in Sleep Medicine. She enjoys the careful management of patients with complex medical problems and has a special interest in sleep disorders. She says, “I enjoy getting to know my patients and seeing them through some of the major health issues in their lives. I love the challenge of solving new medical mysteries every day, and of translating the arcane language of medicine into something patients can understand.”

When she is not practicing medicine, Dr. Mitchell enjoys rowing, hiking, traveling, cooking, and is learning to skijor with her new puppy.

Gail Pokorney, M.D.

Megan Roosen-Runge M.D

Dr. Megan Roosen-Runge is a board-certified general internist originally from Whidbey Island, Washington.  She completed medical school at Stanford University and then her internal medicine and chief residency at the University of Washington in Seattle.  While in residency, she spent a month in Soldotna working with Dr. Bramante and the rest of the CPIM staff and it was that experience that inspired her move to Alaska.  She is passionate about building relationships with patients that help empower them to take on the challenges of living with complex medical conditions.

Outside of work, Dr. Roosen-Runge enjoys backpacking, skiing, running, traveling, cooking, baking, and spending time with her husband, Nicko, a new anesthesiologist at CPH, and their young son.

Cindy Nickels, NP

Cindy has been in the nursing profession for 32 years. Her initial nursing experience included med/surg, critical care, emergency medicine, and flight nursing.  She completed her Nurse Practitioner (NP) training at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA in 1998. Since becoming a certified NP, she has worked in Montana and Wyoming in the field of internal medicine. She moved to Alaska in 2010 to work in villages in the Aleutian Islands.

As expected of a woman born and raised on Montana ranch, Cindy enjoys the outdoors, especially hiking, biking, fishing, and traveling. Together with her husband and their two dogs, Cindy continues to enjoy Alaska and all it has to offer.

Alexa Rodin, M.D.

Dr. Alexa Rodin is board-certified in Internal Medicine. She joined CPIM after finishing Internal Medicine residency at The University of Washington in Seattle. She is originally from Austin, Texas and completed medical school at University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, where her interest in rural medicine and treating metabolic disorders began. Her professional interests include medically supervised weight loss, diabetes care, and addiction medicine.

Outside of work, Dr. Rodin enjoys finding and cooking new recipes, riding horses, hiking with her fiancé and their dog, reading as many novels as she can, and the daily crossword.
